Discover the charming
Nyhavn is one of Copenhagen’s most visited tourist destination. The harbor was excavated from 1671 to 1673 by Swedish prisoners of war from the second Karl Gustav war.
Some of the charming old houses are over 300 years old. The oldest house is Nyhavn no. 9 from 1681. The poet HC Andersen lived in Nyhavn for 20 years of his life – partly in Nyhavn nr. 67.
For many years Nyhavn was one of the city’s more sinister neighborhoods with tattooists, sailor taverns and related prostitutes.
In the 1980s the area was thoroughly renovated and Nyhavn now houses a number of nice restaurants, cafes and bars all located on the sunny side of the canal.
Throughout the year there are various activities on the pier – from jazz festival, exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, sale of Fejø fruit, a huge Christmas market and a lot more.
Nyhavn is the perfect place to enjoy a beer or a meal in the sun surrounded by the beautiful historic buildings.
Enjoy the special atmosphere in Nyhavn whether it is for lunch or dinner.
Nyhavn is the perfect place for “hygge” for both business people, tourists and Copenhageners.
